Water Technology, Inc. is an aquatic planning, design and engineering firm comprised of a well-rounded, experienced group of professionals. Founded in 1983, they have grown from just two associates to our current staff of over 50, which include some of the industry's best architects, engineers, landscape architects, designers and planners. Their Firm's project leaders draw upon more than 100 years of combined experience in the planning, design and construction of our aquatic facilities.

Water Technology, Inc. offers expert consulting and design services for wellness, therapy and adaptive resource pools. Their staff works with physical and aquatic therapists to design each pool to the needs of the particular institution. They know from first hand experience the importance of floor slopes on pool decks, number of and means of access, water depths, width of entrance ramps, utilization of handrails, pool chairs, non-slip floor surfaces, bather preparation room requirements for physically challenged patrons, and natatorium design to resist damage from chemical laden air. Accessibility plays a large part in the design of all of their aquatic centers. There are specific issues to be addressed in the design of ADA compliant pools. They make exerted efforts to remain up to date on current and pending regulations as well as accessibility technology.

 

 As Principal-in-Charge at Water Technology, Inc. Doug Whiteaker has 33 years experience in the aquatic industry. He is dedicated to the planning, design, engineering and construction of aquatic facilities throughout the United States and internationally. Doug leads projects of great diversity in size, scope and function including colleges and universities, athletic and fitness centers, YMCAs, hospital based wellness centers, waterparks and family aquatic centers. 

 

Prior to working with Water Technology, Inc., Doug was the Director of Aquatic Design and a firm partner with an international architecture firm for 10 years, and the President of a Pool Construction company from 1972-1993. Mr. Whiteaker graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor or Arts in Chemistry and Biology, and is currently affiliated with associations including Construction Specifications Institute, National Park and Recreation and Colorado Park and Recreation.
